Animation direction for the Singapore Bicentennial Experience.
I directed the animation production for the opening two acts of From Singapore to Singaporean, helping turn early Singapore history into a cinematic, spatial experience.

Making history feel present
The opening acts moved from Sang Nila Utama and the rise of Singapura through the Johor Sultanate and the arrival of the British. The challenge was to make a long historical span feel immediate without reducing it to a conventional timeline.
Animation gave us room to move between intimate character moments, large environments and episodes that could not be filmed directly. It also had to coexist with live-action performance, motion capture, sound, projection and the physical staging of the experience.
Coordinating a broad animation pipeline
As Animation Director, I worked across visual development, storyboards, character work, 3D production, effects, compositing and motion capture. The team built two distinct historical acts while maintaining continuity in tone, performance and visual storytelling.
The project is a useful example of the kind of direction I value: understanding the production technology deeply enough to make informed decisions, while keeping every department focused on what the audience should feel and understand in the moment.
